Crispy Pickle & Habanero Honey Glazed Pork Bites
Pair your Dill Pickle Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey with crispy, bite-sized pieces of pork belly or thick-cut pork chops for an irresistible, sweet-and-spicy finger food that sets the stage for your salmon main course.
Ingredients
The Protein: 1 lb boneless pork belly or thick-cut pork chops, cut into 1-inch bite-sized cubes
The Honey Glaze:
1/3 cup MJD Apiary Dill Pickle Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (to enhance the pickle tang)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
The Breading & Seasoning:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 large eggs, beaten
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
The Garnish:
Fresh dill or finely chopped chives
Extra dill pickle slices for plating
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prep and Bread the Pork Bites
Pat the pork cubes completely dry with paper towels.
Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls:
Bowl 1: The all-purpose flour mixed with smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Bowl 2: The beaten eggs.
Bowl 3: The panko breadcrumbs.
Dredge each pork cube first in the seasoned flour (shaking off excess), dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it thoroughly in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
2. Fry or Air-Fry Until Crispy
Option A (Frying): Heat about 1 inch of neutral oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry the pork bites in small batches for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
Option B (Air-Frying): Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the breaded pork bites with cooking oil and air-fry for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until crispy and golden.
3. Toss with the Honey Glaze
In a small saucepan over low heat, whisk together the MJD Apiary Dill Pickle Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic powder just until warm and syrupy (about 2 minutes).
Transfer the crispy pork bites to a large mixing bowl, pour the warm habanero-pickle glaze over them, and toss quickly to coat every piece evenly.
4. Serve
Pile the glazed bites onto a serving platter alongside toothpicks.
Garnish with fresh dill and serve with extra pickle chips on the side for a double dose of crunch and tang!
